Sydney, Australia

Record rainfall in Sydney is likely to exceed a 147-year-old measurement, with rain occurring 20 out of 23 days in March, and the wet weather set to continue for the next week.

The current record for wet days dates to 1870, where Sydney was soaked on 26 occasions.

The weather station at Observatory Hill has measured 266.8 millimetres of rain so far this month, with six days exceeding the 25mm barrier and a max fall of 45.8mm.

The city experienced its equal second hottest February on record, with the Bureau of Meteorology revealing Sydney was 2.8 degrees above its mean for the month.

Hot conditions for eight days, broke the 30-degree barrier (two on average), while just four days failed to reach 25 degrees (11 average).
