La Massana (Andorra), On Sunday the Vallnord UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships ended in Andorra with the Downhill mountain biking competitions. Loic Bruni France, men, and Rachel Atherton (Great Britain), women, claimed the titles.
At first it was women's turn and Atherton made it which was no surprise after her world cup results. She paced down in 5:08.48 minutes three seconds faster than Manon Carpenter (Great Britain) on position two and Tracey Hannah (+10 seconds, Australia).
Greg Minaar (South Africa) took first position temporary in 4:21.95 minutes. The former World Champion Gee Atherton could not reach him cause of a crash and Josh Bryceland (4:24.36, Great Britain) missed his time. Then 20 years young Loic Bruni left both, Minnar and Bryceland, with only 4:19.58 minutes on place 2 and 3.
According to an analysis of Mark Shilton the race was still very close in sector 1. While Minnaar lost most of the time in Sector 2, Josh Bryceland was still close there. After a beginning with mixed weather the World Championships ended dry and sunny.
