Request for Another Admin edit

I woulld like another administrator to look at my block. Amgine blocked me for I believe no reason. I think that the so called edit war he states was due to Neutralizer tagging the Ricin article for NO actionable objections. Adding TOTALLY POV statements and sources NOT related to current events. Admins please look at block. 18:09, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

ALL Administrators; Action Alert: Substance found in University of Texas dormitory tests positive for Ricin edit

One year ago there was a report of ricin in London which turnned out to be a false positive after secondary tests. What? And? this has nothing to do with the current news. Nothing at all. We are not to say what is and is not positive/negative. And it is not our job to steer anyone in that direction. FACTS people, RELATED to THIS story not something a year ago.

I mean come on...a source from April 14 2005? What the h**l does this have to do with the current news as it is? NOTHING. So far, as a fact, the test is positive. We are NOT to specualte on what the future is, or what it "may" be. We are here to report the facts. If I am not mistaken, I think Amgine MrMiscellanious said that back in some article about the U.S. Strike against alleged terroriest in Pakistan. Could be wrong. Jason Safoutin 18:37, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

Look at the sources. They're attributed in the story. You cannot write whatever you want to write here; we stick to facts, not theories or conspiracies. MrMiscellanious in talk page of U.S. airstrike targeting Ayman al-Zawahiri leaves 18 dead in Pakistani village

I wanted to thank you, edit

for finishing the Zebra Mussel story. It's kind of nice after posting up a draft and having to dash off, to check back later a see it expanded and published. Best regards. -Edbrown05 05:16, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

Spoilsport :) edit

  • 'Kama Sutra' worm virus set to strike Why remove the images from that article? I think your action was a bit hardcore! I put them up to add a bit of colour to this otherwise drab place... --elliot_k 05:01, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

Please do not threaten users. edit

DragonFire1024, do not threaten users. It is inappropriate and rude. Warn them their behaviour is inappropriate and that admins have been alerted to the situation, but nothing further please. - Amgine | talk en.WN 19:41, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

You should place a comment on the discusion page edit

I think it would have been polite to place a comment on the discusion page in regards to the article you recently removed as publish. ( Please, next time you encounter such an article, would you be kind enough to add a comment on the discusion page to explain your actions. I find that it is a little less unproductive when you have to figure out what is wrong with an article when you could have simply stated it. It also tends to stop future arguments. Thank you for your co-operation. Your future incites and hopefully our future encounters will be a little even more productive. -- 19:09, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

Little late now, Should of given this a little while ago. Great work.

articles getting lost. edit

Hello, I wanted to make sure you are aware that articles do not need the date or develop tag in order to be listed on the developing story list. The only way for a story to get truly lost would for it to be published with out a date tag --Cspurrier 18:00, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

Oh ok...good to know. Also, there was no date on the article previously. Jason Safoutin 18:07, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

You are blocked edit

You have been blocked for 3RR violation in article Pennsylvania man named in alleged terror plot for 24 hours. If you would like to discuss this with me, I am available in IRC, or via e-mail, or on my talk page after your block has expired. - Amgine | talk en.WN 01:31, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Your block has been reduced, due to mitigating circumstances. You are blocked for 8 hours. The same routes of communication as above are available. - Amgine | talk en.WN 02:57, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

California police kill knife-wielding man edit

I was just wondering why you moved the above article back to develop claiming it was too short. Briefs are meant to be short, only around one paragraph - see Wikinews:Australian_discussion/archive3#Australian_briefs Cartman02au (Talk)(AU Portal) 07:46, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

WN:FAC and Template:Third lead edit

As a note, WN:FAC doesn't govern the third lead (or "featured story")... The guidelines for the featured story are kept on the template itself. They read, in part

The third lead should be the one that has the most human interest, the best written story that day perhaps or a quirky story - whatever people feel is most likely to get readers reading which isn't the day's top breaking news.

WN:FAC was an idea that hasn't really gotten off the ground -- yet. Featured Story (Template:Third lead) was developed so that non-major news could be featured on the front page. --Chiacomo (talk) 16:13, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Ugh. Well whatever then. I do not see that the evolution article is worthy of any lead...not long enough and if this article is true needs more to it than what it has. Jason Safoutin 16:16, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

New Wikinewsie edit

Your contributions are quite impressive! I am trying to break into the Wikinews world myself...I would ultimately like to make video reports of interesting stuff that goes on around Long Island (where I live) and NYC...I was thinking that I would write an article on something like a piece of legislation passed somewhere that is otherwise not very well known but is an easy subject for a practice article. What do you think? Would love to hear from you...thanks PaulHanson 22:57, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Jason is earning stripes as old wikinewsie, it takes 5 minutes, the rest seem like yesterday! Best regards. -Edbrown05 06:50, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
Would that be a compliment? ;-) Jason Safoutin 06:59, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

Yes, watch out for extra verbal comments like "However" and "So far", they take up mental space with no value. Stay concise. I want to repeat stay concise. You got it. Oh, think world, when you do world stories. You got it, with a few more bumps in the road :) Edbrown05 07:32, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

Please work toward publishing Full extent of Abu Ghraib detainee abuse revealed edit

Please make an effort to resolve whatever differences you have with other editors and let's get the above article published. I realize that you have strong feelings on the subject, but this is a newsworthy article and the project suffers when we cannot report news in a timely fashion. Please remember that everyone has a POV and that each person's POV should be respected. Also, let's avoid even the appearance of personal attacks in discussion pages. --Chiacomo (talk) 04:58, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

Peace edit

I, Brian New Zealand hereby ask for peace from now on (i.e. no more edit wars)

You are blocked edit

You are blocked for 24 hours due to 3RR violations, edit warring in Substance found in University of Texas dormitory tests positive for Ricin.

You have exhibited a difficulty in accepting that articles on Wikinews are collaboratively developed. This means you cannot control the content of an article. It also means you do not have the ability to decide if the article is disputed or not. It is my opinion you will be less frustrated, and less likely to violate 3RR, if you stop considering articles as "yours". - Amgine | talk en.WN 17:40, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

You are unblocked, under advisement of other admins, "to initiate dispute resolution." - Amgine | talk en.WN 19:59, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

Ricin story edit

Hi and hey! I can understand your instincts towards editorial exclusivity on articles in which you are doing 'Original reporting'. On derivative stories, the final content is tossed into the salad of what is Wikinews. I like that :) Edbrown05 07:00, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

Interviews edit

I am new to the whole concept of interviewing people and reporting on Wikinews and have recently conducted two related interviews with people at the centre of MPAA launches seven lawsuits against torrent, ed2k and usenet sites. I think they will be of value to Wikinews, but am unsure of how to proceed. Any tips would be handy - Cartman02au (Talk)(AU Portal) 02:58, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
