The 2013 Sunshine Coast Rugby Union regular season came to a close yesterday with Maroochydore claiming the minor premiership. Maroochydore defeated Caloundra 40 to 23 at Cotton Tree Oval while second-placed Noosa defeated Fraser Coast 55 to 8 in Urangan.

Wikinews was present at Sunshine Coast Stadium where University defeated Nambour 40 points to 10. Both teams were playing for pride as neither could progress to the finals.

Nambour opened the scoring kicking a penalty goal, going ahead 3–0. Both teams would score a converted try during the next ten minutes or so. University would score three tries in the last ten minutes of the first half to go to half time leading 33 points to 10. They scored a converted try right on full time in the only score of the second half.

Nambour managed to prevent University from scoring for a lot of the half. They're seen here preventing the grounding of the ball in goal.
