Gerry Rafferty...the world shall miss you.

I remember Gerry Rafferty's music spilling through the stereo speakers in my high school during the late 1970's. While Disco music was trying to take a strangle hold on the music world, Gerry's songs were the breathe we needed to release that Disco grip. He had a soft voice that just seemed to floated on air. Loved hearing "Home and Dry" and "Right Down the Line" playing through my car radio as drove home from school. Those were some magical times and it was his music that made it so. Later when I attended college I would start my day by listening to his City to City album. In fact, my favorite song to get me going in the morning before class was the title track "City to City". His voice was so smooth and his music would get my feet moving every time. Yes...damn right, I miss him. Was always hoping he would make one more trip to the states(USA) so I could see him play his music in-person. As a musician, myself, I admired his writing style and his lyrics. This man was a musician, composer, and poet. He was world class...all the way! He once said, "Out there in the darkness there's a star shinin' bright, and it makes me feel better just to see it up there". Well, now he "is" that star up in the heavens, and it make's me feel better knowing that he's up there(heaven) shinin' brightly. May God rest your soul, Gerry Rafferty...the world shall miss you.
