Not much has really changed...

It may seem surprising, but really, people are just treating the Internet like any other public space. I've heard the most shocking secrets shared not five feet from me by complete strangers talking into their phone or to their friend. Anyone in earshot might have known them, and they're getting the details of their latest affair or what they "secretly" did to stick it to the man before they left work. People are very bad at keeping secrets a secret; so why should they protect something as un-incriminating as an address?

There's a difference between making your address known and telling people when you're away from that address. That's why sportspeople are sometimes the target of robberies when people know they are on TV playing elsewhere - easy to know the house will be empty if you spot the WAG there watching.
