This is not good at all for the world.

I don't think it is right for them to approve a same-sex marriage bill. What happen to procreation? are they trying to stop people from giving birth?

Kwameghana (talk)21:44, 21 July 2013

Single women give birth frequently. Marriage is not an impediment to that. Infertile opposite sex couples frequently get married. The state already allows it. Pro-creation still happens given the previous two things. Are you proposing that the state conduct fertility tests and block the use of all contraceptives?

Gay and lesbian couples have children: from artificial insemination, from surrogacy, from adoption and from previous heterosexual relationships. They'll now be able to get married. If marriage is so important for the raising of children, you'd think self-proclaimed defenders of marriage would be keen to see their parents get married. But apparently not.

I think heterosexuals will continue to reproduce regardless of whether gay people can get married or not. It's almost as if sex is a natural instinct for most people or something.

How will you feel if your child wants to be gay?

Kwameghana (talk)23:49, 22 July 2013

People don't choose to be gay.

Speaking as someone who is gay, if I were to have a child and he or she were to be gay or lesbian, I'd want him or her to live in a society that is tolerant of sexual minorities and which provides comprehensive legal rights to guarantee non-discrimination at work, in criminal justice and in terms of things like immigration.

It is encouraging that Britain is moving in that direction.

Tom Morris (talk)06:18, 23 July 2013

If you are a child and you are attracted to people of the same sex and cannot change that preference to matter how much you would like to, how would you like it if your parents condemned you for the way you were born? For something you had no choice in? I guess my sympathy lies not for the parents who make the choice to discriminate and would condemn their child, but for the child who did not make the choice to be attracted to the same sex.

What was the point in your question again? I got confused.

LauraHale (talk)06:44, 23 July 2013

Most gay people can procreate, you know. This is not about sexual preferences or procreating. As a straight person, I do not understand or feel sexual desire for a man, but I do know there are people who feel that way, both gay men and most of the women. Gay marriage is about having the same rights as everybody else, it's about being an adult who chooses to share his life with someone else no matter sexual or other preferences. I my child were gay, if other people are gay... I don't mind what other people do in their bedroom. Calusarul (talk) 11:41, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

Gordon Brown told Ghana's late President Mills to accept gays in Ghana or else the UK will cut the aid it gives Ghana, but the late president constantly refused because we don't condone such acts here. It became a very big topic of discussion which made the major religious groups to speak against it. I just wonder what will make people of the same sex have feelings for each other much more get married. I'm really confused.

Kwameghana (talk)08:54, 24 July 2013

I have heard about the treatment of people attracted to the same-sex in Africa. I find it incredibly and abhorrent, especially when it comes from Christians. This completely runs counter to the teachings of Jesus in the Bible.

Can you explain to me what will make people of the opposite sex have feelings for each other so much that they want to get married? What is your point of reference? Also please, as you have implied that it is a conscious choice people make regarding the gender they are attracted to, please describe to me how and why you made this choice? How old were you when you made this choice?

LauraHale (talk)09:28, 24 July 2013

"Accepting gays" means accepting they exist, and they do exist. Nobody is placing a gay person in your bed or nobody is putting you in a gay person's bed. And of course they have feelings for each other, that's why they want to get married. Calusarul (talk)

Calusarul (talk)13:18, 24 July 2013

Most people attracted to the same sex can do the same for people who are exclusively attracted to the opposite sex. Opposite-sex attracted people who think that think REALLY REALLY highly of themselves. My recollection was that vanity/pride like that was considered a sin by many Christians and Muslims. They should perhaps stop thinking that same-sex attracted people want to have sex with them because the opposite-sex attracted person is just SO ATTRACTIVE, good looking, intelligent, funny, well off that same-sex people would want to jump their bones, screw them senseless and then marry them. It doesn't work like that. (Though to be fair, a number of societies appear to perpetuate this myth that men have zero self control over their sex drives and cannot be held responsible for their sexually inappropriate actions towards women. It looks like those guys, who do or desire to do such inappropriate things towards women, suddenly have fears that their inappropriate actions could be done unto them. Perhaps, the real lesson here is heterosexual male idiots should be taught their behavior is wrong and completely unacceptable. Then, when seeing less sexually inappropriate behavior towards women, they will see the norm that this type of behavior is NOT acceptable point blank and stop assuming what they do will be done unto them.)
