RIP Edward Stobart - the UK's trucking legend

A very sad day today for the UK trucking legend. I thought it would be appropriate to have this Facebook page for people to share memories of the legend. I did meet him the once at Truckfest several years ago. Personally, had if of not been for Edward's business acumen, I would not have known of Stobart, joined the fan club, collected the models and made that part of it into a career. His idea of creating a fan club found a way in creating a frenzy of hauliers following his lead in having models made and it's down to his idea that I am in business doing what I do today, making models for Stobart and other UK truck companies.

Edward Stobart was one of the country’s finest businessmen who was totally inspirational to many who have seen how he took his business from very humble Cumbrian beginnings, into one of the biggest names in British transport history. His devotion to cleaning up the transport industry with smarter drivers, and engaging his company with the public at every opportunity was simply unique. His company did a lot for the British economy and continues to do so now, especially as a major player in Multi-Modal Logistics for the 21st Century. His death is simply tragic and an awful sudden loss to his family. His contribution to the UK’s Trucking Industry has simply been phenomenal and was quite unrecognised officially in some respects.

Undoubtedly, his efforts brought Stobart's into the househould of many up and down the country. Nearly everyone you mention the name to, they'll know stories of spotting them on road trips, noting the girls' names etc. All of it, was his idea - setting his trucks above the rest!

Gone, but certainly not forgotten!
