Template:QuoteRight/doc
This is a documentation subpage for Template:QuoteRight (see that page for the template itself). It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
Documentation
edit{{QuoteRight|quote}} is a template meant for pull-quotes (i.e. the text in the cited quote also appears within the article body), which break up an article and give a point of focus to encourage reading the full article. Owing to limitations in the template it should not be used for quotes which consist of more than a simple sentence or paragraph...
Usage
edit{{QuoteRight|quote text}}
{{QuoteRight|quote text|quotewidth=10px|quoteheight=10px}}
or{{QuoteRight|quote text|10px|10px}}
{{QuoteRight|quote text|quote width in pixels|quote height in pixels|Origin of quote|Cited source}}
{{QuoteRight|quote text|4=Origin of quote}}
Only the first parameter is required, the last example above allows the quote to be attributed without having to specify the size of the quote marks.
Parameters
edit- Parameter 1: text of the quote; use
<br /> between paragraphs.
[REQUIRED]
- Note: if the quote text contains one or more "=" (equal signs), then the template must be called as {{QuoteRight|1=quote text}} (see "Equals sign in parameter value")
The next two parameters can be used to scale the graphical quotation marks up and down to suit larger or smaller quotes.
- Parameter 2: "quotewidth" - desired width of the quote image; defaults to 10px
- Parameter 3: "quoteheight" - desired height of the quote image; defaults to 10px.
The last two parameters can be used to provide attribution for the quote:
- Parameter 4: Name of the person that wrote or spoke the text being quoted. Can include links. (can also be called source=)
- Parameter 5: Source of the quote (publication title, speech, etc.). Can include links.
Examples
edit{{QuoteRight|quote text}}
As Amy Tan once said
{{QuoteRight|quote text|40px|40px}}
{{QuoteRight|quote text|30px|30px|Origin of quote|Cited source}}
And when they've given you their all / Some stagger and fall, after all it's not easy / Banging your heart against some mad bugger's wall. | ||
