Talk:Winter storms hammer Texas, fatalities reported
Reporter's notes on vehicle pile-up
edit- 10:01AM - 10:13AM Watched live interview via Ft. Worth PD's Facebook page. Present were a rep. from Ft. Worth Fire Department, Ft. Worth Emergency Medical Services and Ft. Worth Police Department -- each of them spoke briefly.
One rep., talking about the size/scope of the event, said: "This is a career event." Has been an EMS worker for 12 years and has never witnessed anything to compare. He also stated that the 1st call came into 911 around 6:20AM this morning, but that there are, "A number of people still in their vehicles."
Another spokesman [Fire department]confirmed deaths, stating: "We know there are some fatalities." and "It was very difficult to get to some of the vehicles." Also said in his 19-year career, this is "...the worst vehicle mass casualty..." in Fort Worth he's ever seen.
Ft. Worth P.D. rep began by asking for prayers for the families of the deceased. A reported asked about the stretch of distance of vehicles -- he estimated it to be approx. 1 mile long. He also confirmed 5 known fatalities at present. --Bddpaux (talk) 16:20, 11 February 2021 (UTC)

First hand in Tyler, Texas
editWell......it's been perfectly awful. Pretty cold and yucky on Sunday, but the bad stuff started hitting late Sunday night....that was also President's Day, so it was a federal holiday. Really could hardly pull out of the driveway on Monday or Tuesday. Super wicked freezing rain on Wednesday for much of the day. Really just hunkered down on Monday and Tuesday.....scary stuff for Texas! --Bddpaux (talk) 16:58, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
- As of 10:58AM on Thursday.....no precipitation falling. Just thick ice on the streets, with minimal traffic. --Bddpaux (talk) 16:59, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
