I e-mailed Godwin, who told me to e-mail Jay Walsh. I am awaiting a reply from him. I recieved the notice of the cancellation on scoop. It is as follows:

Not Happening? edit
Godwin was a speaker along with Hewitt. The other was moderating. I contacted the person who e-mailed scoop to see if this discussion is still happening. Title edit
I would like the title to somehow include more information. Such as: where the forum is (Santa Clara University) and that it is a forum on ethics and values of public knowledge. I can't readily think of a good title, but I don't like the current "Discussion on Wikipedia ethics to go on without Wikimedia" which almost sounds like a discussion on a talk page of Wikipedia. --SVTCobra 00:36, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
- I agree 100%...but it was the first one that popped in my head. Usually in order for me to start an article, I have to at least have a title started too. While I agree, I still want to wait and see what the results of me contacting everyone. If the Panel is not still on, that could change the situation. As you have contacted Wikimedia and Mr. Godwin, I think they are the best sources for questions about why they will not appear at this event. Let me instead tell you something about the event that will give you insight on our point of view.
Santa Clara University is an academic institution, which means we are committed to the open and rigorous consideration of sometimes difficult issues. This event, “The World That Wikipedia Made,” is the ninth in a multi-year series about technology, ethics, and law. It was organized by the University’s Markkula Center for Applied Ethics; Center for Science, Technology, and Society; and High Tech Law Institute as a panel with speakers representing different viewpoints (Mr. Godwin, Carl Hewitt, and moderator Pedro Hernandez-Ramos from SCU). These events are always open to the public, which means everyone is welcome. In this kind of setting, we invite anyone with an interest in the topic.
Again, this is our ninth such panel (in addition to the hundreds of events on other topics our centers run each year), and we feel confident in our ability to set a respectful tone for discourse on controversial topics.

Henandez-Ramos. Again, I don't want to speak for Mr. Godwin or WikiMedia, but someone else made an incorrect assumption about this, so let me clarify that in our understanding, the problem was never with the composition of the panel.
