"Uruguay referee Jorge Larrionda did not wait for the blood that streamed from the striker's head and gave De Rossi a straight red. Fifa might give the 22-year-old a lengthy ban for what looked like a premeditated attempt to intimidate the Americans."

This is mostly opinion, and there was very little blood. Who is to decide wether or not it looked premeditated, he may have been going for the ball!

"Daniele De Rossi rose for a midfield challenge and elbowed Brian McBride hard under the left eye."

Actually, if you watch the tape again the soccerball hit Brian in the face. I don't know where or how to upload the clip but I have it on tape. If the guy was really elbowed things would have been alot worse with more blood.

Since it's a news article I deleated the unsorced speculation and dramtization.

If the tapes are under a free license (like creative commons, or gfdl, free art license, public domain etc) which is doubtful, you could upload to commons:special:upload. If you can somehow claim their fair use (which is also doubtful, as you can't directly embed, but only link, but possible, as i don't know fair use all that well I may be wrong about that. You can upload them to special:upload. All video files have to be in ogg (theora) format. See commons:Help:Converting video for more info. Bawolff ☺☻

It might be wise to identify the sport early in such article, Group E doesn't really cut it. Nyarlathotep 10:54, 19 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Most people would realise we are talking about Group E of the FIFA cup. PVJ (Talk) 01:54, 20 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Fair comment that the ref might not have waited to see the blood and it IS POV to say De Rossi did it to intimidate. I would like to see your tape; the video replay and all the news sources I have read, including those linked, say De Rossi elbowed McBride. Usually a ball doesn't cause a cut under the eye, either.Ealturner 11:57, 20 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Elbow red card

edit

Could someone add some more commentary to this section? The phrase "with what looked like an elbow" is poorly worded and and contains weasel words. Some quotes from Wikipedia:

The BBC stated that DeRossi had "disgraced himself with a sickening, needless elbow on Brian McBride". [1] De Rossi was subsequently banned for four matches and fined CHF 10,000.[2] 74.94.86.1 (talk) 17:47, 17 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
