Journalist notes

The audio was sent to scoop and uploaded to dropbox. It was in Russian. They had a translation device and I could hear it translated live in English. I took notes during the press conference, which was originally scheduled for 1:30 in a smaller room but moved to a bigger room because of the overwhelming number of journalists who wanted to attend. It started at 1:50 because the driver for the Ukrainian had problems with his accreditation. The spelling was typed in by the Ukrainian Wikinewsie here with me for the guy's name. He was in a wheelchair. Hand written notes below in addition to the audio. I was late to the press conference following it. (Had to get photography things for the opening ceremony.) Regarding the Afghanistan thing, I asked Illya for clarification: Did they mean the Soviet war? The answer was yes. (As opposed to the recent USA thing in Afghanistan.) I think I sent the audio to scoop. It should also be in dropbox. Craig Spence was there as well as the local organizer. I arrived just for the Q&A part. As submitted, the lede was overly long, the main difficulty with this being not mere style, but message. The first sentence became effectively the sole determiner of tone, and that sentence did not set the right tone as indicated by the notes, and by the headline. If, indeed, a really major message intended by the speaker is peace, this was being lost through the tone established. As a reviewer, I couldn't do much. The edit I finally chose excised the words "so as to be remembered"; the first sentence with this excision is a true statement, based on the notes, but clearly some information has been excised with the words. The difficulty was that by presenting that information as if it were the focus, the whole article got off on the wrong foot. I note that this point was made later in the speech, after the point about peace. Alternatively I could have not-ready'd and ask the reporter to fix the problem, and that wasn't an attractive choice either. The reviewed revision should automatically have been edited by removing {{Review}} and adding {{Publish}} at the bottom, and the edit sighted; if this did not happen, it may be done manually by a reviewer.
