I find the comments of the Republican congressman even more interesting though, saying it's not right to compare a democratically elected U.S. president with Hitler... as if Hitler was not democratically elected! -- IlyaHaykinson 17:41, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

thousands or millions?

it seems to me that no matter what the circumstances, people dying is people dying. (Ithink that there rarely seems to be a good reason for violence.) If nothing else, both hitler and bush have called for the slayings of thousands or millions of people, depending on the source. I believe the problems at the base of these murders could have been delt with using non-violence. Hitler's problem with skin color and 'impurity'and bush's problem with terrorism and dictatorships did not NEED to be solved with violence.

As far as the congressman's comparison trivializing the holocaust, I think both are equally important. "If it were your relative who died in the war in iraq, you might see both as equally important." I personally do not know anybody involved in either situation, but still hold human life as well as all life to be the most important thing I can think of. You know, as an atheist, I'm really happy to hear a politician publicly say he supports atheists like that. So many others seem to squirm at the thought. This guy just earned some points with me.

Hitler was democratically elected too

Don't forget your history... Germany elected Hitler democratically as well; and it was after the Reichstag Fire that Germans allowed him to become dictator (something Bush & company are desparately trying to do).
