Talk:Toronto Comicon 2019 welcomes fans with celebrities, creativity, cosplay

@Zanimum: At least, we'll want to mention the year (thus making it unique), and of course fix the typo. --Pi zero (talk) 18:29, 17 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Review of revision 4472238 [Not ready] edit

@Pi zero: I've added in the dates, sources. As for an original refresh, how much do I need? I presume I can't quote someone's firsthand account on their blog to qualify? -- Zanimum (talk) 12:09, 27 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Zanimum: Comments on a blog would by synthesis, and tied to the date they were posted.

We don't use a full OR template for photo essays, and don't count them as retaining freshness longer than synthesis (unlike other forms of OR that to some degree carry their focal event with them —the event is the publication— making them slightly, or in some cases greatly, resistant to losing freshness). A few (exclusive) comments from someone might do the trick. --Pi zero (talk) 20:13, 27 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

The reviewer is asking for something to freshen the article up, so I'm asking some people for quotes.

Would you consider giving me one or two sentences on the con, and what it's like sculpting with thousands of people wandering by, how do you focus on such meticulous work? Your business will be mentioned outside of the quote proper.

Thanks, Nick

Sure i would be happy to give a quote for your article.

I'd say that conventions are wonderful safe spaces where people can feel free to express themselves. It can be tough to maintain focus with so many people streaming past and along questions, but sculpting in front of a crowd at conventions is great because it allows people to see the process that goes into what I do and it also can serve as inspiration to other to pursue their own artistic endeavors.

I hope that works for you! Thanks! Please send me the link to the final piece, I'd love to share it.

Cheers,

Ian.

Hi,

I've photographed you and Jennocide at previous conventions for Wikinews; we unfortunately didn't cross paths this year.

Despite not visually appearing in this year's article, would you consider giving me a sentence or two?

What inspires you to cosplay, how you choose characters, about making costume pieces, any sort of topic like that? Whatever you choose to talk about, I'll give a tad of context to, and your Instagram account will be included in the links.

Thanks for your consideration, Nick

Hey there, I recall.

Just to answer your questions:

I’ve only been cosplaying for about two years. My passion for cosplay stemmed through my love for Halloween. I typical chose to portray beloved characters from childhood or strong females. I also enjoy a good gender Bent cosplay to ensure a touch of uniqueness! The best part about cosplaying for me is bringing a character to life!

Hope this helps!

Hi,

A couple weekends ago, I photographed you for Wikinews, a sister website of Wikipedia through the Wikimedia Foundation.

https://en.m.wikinews.org/wiki/Toronto_Comicon_2019_welcomes_fans_with_celebrities,_creativity,_cosplay

Would you consider giving me a quote about your costume, how taxing it is to wear, and/or meeting Ron Perlman? Only a sentence or three, I can contextualize using content off your blog.

Nick

Yeah I’d be happy to give you a quote :)

Abe is my most challenging cosplay to wear because I normally ensure I can see out of my masks, but for Abe I wanted to go for accuracy over comfort so I CANNOT function without a handler in this costume. And, as you can imagine, it is very warm under there so I have to stay hydrated and try to keep as calm as possible. It’s just really hard to stay calm when I meet someone like Ron Perlman, so between the excitement of meeting Hellboy and the stress I’m putting on my body I am very prone to having some sort of meltdown while I’m wearing my full yarn suit. Yes we can edit

@Zanimum: There's no problem adding this to the article, provided we get it added and reviewed promptly (as the archiving horizon for substantial edits is 24 hours after publication). --Pi zero (talk) 17:11, 29 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Zanimum: Phew! Thank you both on the review, and on the permission to add the last interview to arrive. It's in the article now. -- Zanimum (talk) 17:19, 29 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
