I'm the person of the year

omg am I so bad?

I can't be the person of the year as the person of the year is you, not I. --Nzgabriel | Talk 09:02, 18 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

yeah, but try to get a casual news piece published here with no sources, let's not mention you are a new-comer, and so Wikinews is to take your news contribution on faith? and what do you get? NOT! -Edbrown05 09:10, 18 December 2006 (UTC) Such is lifeReply

Not an actual person

edit

"It is not the first time the magazine has departed from naming an actual person as Person of the Year. In 1966 the magazine named people under 25, in 1975 it named American women, and in 1982 it named the computer."

This list gives the appearance of being all-inclusive but is lacking several instances:

  • The American Fighting-Man (1950) - first abstract choice
  • Hungarian Freedom Fighter (1956)
  • U.S. scientists
  • Endangered Earth (1988) - Planet of the Year

Also, the "people under 25" should be "people 25 or under". --Tim4christ17 12:29, 18 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Didn't they choose the person of the year to be the American soldier just a while ago? 81.170.138.232 01:24, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

It was a rhetorical question my man ;-)

Monitor Description Incorrect

edit

The monitor description is incorrect. Although the keyboard is in the style of an Apple iMac, along with the whole computer itself, if you observe the monitor, you will see video controls that match exactly with the style used on YouTube.com[1]. So infact, the monitor style is in YouTube style.

Scale of evilness-goodness?

edit

"26 “People Who Mattered” are listed in the magazine, ranging from North Korea's president Kim Jong Il to Pope Benedict XVI."

And of course by that we are saying that good-old Kim is the most evil of them all, and the holy-pope is the most sacred and good of them all.

Impartial news, anyone?

edit

It's me the author of the initial adaptation on the French wikinews. I was of course emphatizing on the mirror, mention missing in the actual version. I had also committed the translation of you by tu (singular) but the new writer preferred vous (plural) and I was at last banned few hours later from wikinews/fr not allowed then any more to express my point of view.
