POV..Disgrace

edit

Well as much as he MIGHT be a disgrace, this is indeed the writers opinion of the situation...unless Ted calls himself a disgrace of course. DragonFire1024 05:24, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Disgraced" in the sense that he was forced to step down from the very church he started, and then apologize. Doesn't seem POV as he apologized and his church is embrassed. C56C 06:40, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
I donno how it was used, but you can't ever say "Haggard is a disgrace" no matter what, as that is an opinion. But you can say "disgraced minister", which implicitly means he disgraced the church in its own eyes. Clearly "disgraced minister" is a prefectly acceptable title. Ahh, yes, I see it was the title. Yes, "Disgraced minister Ted Haggard ..." is an acceptable title since its not expressing an editorial opinion, just relaying his status in the churches eyes. Otoh, "Ted Haggard reaches settlement after his disgraceful ..." is a POV title. Nyarlathotep 15:53, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree that Ted Haggard was very decietful in his attempt to cover up his sin by preaching so passionately against it. But the Word of God does say "Be sure your sins will find you out". Just as Jimmy Swaggart so passionately preached against porn and it was the very sin that took him down. There is more in the Word of God that must be preached as equally passionate and lived. Both men need grace and God will be the judge of their progress. We all deserve a second chance, no one is beyond falling from Grace, but we must keep our eyes, hearts and minds on God and in His Word at all times, lest we find ourselves in situations that will cause us shame. Don't throw stones if you are secretly involved in activities that could one day be brought to light. God is a God of second chances. (User: Amazing Grace)6:42pm 12 February 2007.
