Talk:Students protest Holocaust denier's appearance at Oxford debate

I removed this: Nick Griffin, the other participant in the debate, has similar views regarding the Holocaust, and has even criticized Irving for admitting that up to four million Jews might have died in the exterminations. It may be true but it is not in the sources. Please cite sources for all material. --SVTCobra 06:00, 27 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Article says "Oxford University debate". Note that the Oxford Union is not actually a part of the University, despite a large overlap in membership. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.86.168.207 (talk) 09:07, 27 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

My photos from last night are here, if any of them would be useful - let me know and I'll put them on Commons. Shimgray 18:15, 27 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
WRT the general thrust of the article, I'd say it's missing the point a bit. The main target of the protest was Griffin, not Irving - Griffin is seen generally as an actual threat, whilst Irving gets more contempt. Certainly the signs at the protest were much more BNP-directed than Holocaust-denial directed, and in many ways the protest against Irving was an afterthought - if it had been Irving alone, you'd probably have got a picket and not much more. I'd say that more than one of your photos can be used in this article. I'd say choose a few yourself and if you don't put them in the article yourself, just let us know here what the image names are. This article is not my specialty, but please, if the article is off-base a bit by centering on Irving, won't you please edit it to bring it into balance. If you add anything observed by your own attendance at the event, please provide detailed notes on this collaboration page and add the {{original}} to the article (in the sources section). Cheers, --SVTCobra 18:37, 27 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Four up - flag-waving; banner; church spire (I love that shot); police horses. I'm afraid I'm swamped with other writing tonight, so I can't help do much work with the article beyond point out the direction! Shimgray 19:34, 27 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
I went with the flag one because it shows more of the protesters. --SVTCobra 08:55, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
