As I seem to be teaching people how to do original reporting... we attended the the downhill at IPC Alpine World Championships this morning where were watched all the racing. Jon Santacana and his guide won. There was a time gap as the results were provisional but the announcer finally said Santacana won. They also said the Italian finished second (and that this was a huge surprise) and the Canadian finished third.

The scoreboard picture also confirms this. There was a school group (image can be provided) and lots of local fans wearing regional ski team jackets. When both Gorce and Santacana crossed the line, there was lots of cheering from these people. The announcer kept going on about Santacana being a favourite.

The Santacana background information we got from writing the Wikipedia article in English and Spanish and from the 2010 Winter Paralympics media guide that the Spanish Paralympic Committee gave us. The announcers also said this information about Santacana's awesomeness. (Announcer provided lots of background info.)

The CPE and the announcer said that Santacana was the country's big hope for a medal. The IPC Alpine Twitter account and a press release sent to scoop also say that Santacana is a big medal hope for this event and for the 2014 Games. --LauraHale (talk) 14:28, 20 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
