Does there need to be a LOGO on the front page? Is Wikinews an advertising space for this airline? --elliot_k 05:32, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

I was the one who found the Southwest logo on their site and added it to the article. However, I'm not an admin so I was not the one who put it on the main page. If you find a picture of a Boeing 737 that we can use (see Wikinews:Fair use) or a better version of the Southwest logo, then by all means, go and change the image. Still does not justify using a company logo on the front page. As a contirbutor to Wikinews I find that logo pretty offensive... Not having an image is better than advertising the airline like that. Please remove it. --elliot_k 06:28, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

I've seen articles from other Wikinews authors use company logos in them before, but I haven't been around long enough to know whether or not those logos were ever featured on the front page or not. The title of the article has "Southwest Airlines" in it, so I figured it would be okay to put the logo of Southwest Airlines in the article. Looking at the history of Template:Lead_article, it appears that Messedrocker was the one who decided to put the logo on the main page. Sawran 06:40, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for informing me that non-admins can edit that template. However, wouldn't it be wise to only allow admins to edit it? It seems that a vandal could seriously deface the front page if they made a change to just that one template. Sawran 07:29, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

That does indeed happen from time to time, but protecting the templates would mean that admins get to decide which stories are important and which are not. And in cases of major breaking news where no admin is around, no one would be able to update the lead stories. So in my opionion the advantages of the current situation clearly outweigh the disadvantages. --Deprifry|+T+ 11:08, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

Typo.

There's a typo/conflict in parallelism. The second sentence should read... under heavy know, and SKIDDED off the runway...
