I'm still wondering about "eight police" what in my eyes should be "eight police men" or "eight police officers", but since i'm not a native english speaker, i'm not perfectly sure about that. --Itu (talk) 13:38, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

Fwiw, wikt:police#Noun identifies the usage (definition 2) as "regional, chiefly US, Caribbean, Scotland". Our reviewer was US, our writer Scottish; one of the three sources also used "police" this way, though, with apparently a South African writer and, one supposes, Australian editor. It's interesting to me (as the US reviewer in question) the usage isn't universal, but imo it seems well within acceptable dialectal variation for en.wn. --Pi zero (talk) 14:13, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
