This was written after seeing it appear on my Facebook feed, about the Spanish performance. The media is not writing about this, though there were two news stories in advance of it in English about people competing this and this. The results are from the results page, and the front page of the competition's webpage. The medal count for both days is based on manually counting the results from both days. The world record times are found on the results page, and a little math was done to come up with those results. --LauraHale (talk) 17:41, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

The results, as I interpreted them, involved two separate days. The results on the front page were from the first day of competition. The results page linked to on the PDF were from the second day. This for me was confirmed based on the comments on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/FEDS2011 , which I didn't cite because I didn't use here. (Used for the Spanish version.)

End quote. The Spanish comment makes clear the PDF is for the second day, not the first. Day 1 totals can also be confirmed at http://www.deafswimming2014.ru/images/stories/pdf/Day1.pdf . On the Facebook page for FDES2011, it says,

XI Ctos.

When I first started the first review, the front page did list only results from the first day; but by later in my review, it listed results from the second day, which disagreed with your reportage and agreed with the changed stats on the "results" page as noted. --Pi zero (talk) 20:36, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Added the new sources. They should match now. Didn't list them originally as didn't see the need.  :/ --LauraHale (talk) 20:42, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Der. WR = World Record. ER = European Record. ECR = European Championship Record. MR = meet record. --LauraHale (talk) 20:48, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for explaining the abbrevs.
The home page now explicitly disagrees with you on the winner of the women's 50m freestyle and men's 50m freestyle, doesn't mention women's 800m freestyle, and lists a couple of relay results you don't mention. (And doesn't list the 1st day results anymore, I see. Sigh.) --Pi zero (talk) 20:59, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
It seems the problem is one of preliminary results gradually being replaced with final ones. --Pi zero (talk) 21:04, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I can see that happening. The thing has completely changed from when it was first accessed. :/ I am trying to figure out what happened. :/ --LauraHale (talk) 21:12, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Day 2 finals are:

Men, 100m Backstroke Men, 400m Medley Women, 50m Freestyle Men, 50m Freestyle

Based on those four finals listed as finals, the medal totals after day 2 are:

Rank Country Gold Silver Bronze Total
1 Russia 3 1 2 6
2 Belarus 1 1
3 Ukraine 1 1 2
4 Great Britain 1 1
5 Germany 0
6 Poland 2 2
7 Republic of Macedonia 0

--LauraHale (talk) 21:14, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Just haul off.... *howls* Okay. Reading this, my understanding is now that Preliminaries are before a final. In some cases, there is no preliminary final, and in this case it is "Open - Results". This can be verified because the race is not listed twice. These open - results are the finals. --LauraHale (talk) 21:40, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Women, 200m Fly Women, 4 x 100m Medley Men, 4 x 200m Freestyle

Those are the three other ones for the day.

Rank Country Gold Silver Bronze Total
1 Russia 5 1 3 9
2 Belarus 1 1
3 Ukraine 3 1 4
4 Great Britain 1 1
5 Germany 0
6 Poland 2 1 3
7 Republic of Macedonia 0

Tweaked totals for day 2 only.

Finals for day 1 include only:

Men, 200m Freestyle Women, 100m Backstroke Men, 100m Breaststroke Women, 400m Freestyle Men, 50m Backstroke Women, 50m Breaststroke Men, 100m Fly Women, 200m Medley Men, 4 x 100m Medley Women, 4 x 100m Freestyle

And yeah. Everything should now be fixed. --LauraHale (talk) 21:57, 24 June 2014 (UTC) --LauraHale (talk) 21:57, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Review of revision 2708208 [Passed]

  • I did worry, at the start of the review process, about the low variety of sources. I'd decided to allow it and remark in my review comments, but by the time I passed the article I'd long been distracted from that by our struggles to extract the data. Of course, the difficulty of extracting the data is the the point. --Pi zero (talk) 10:53, 25 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

+Category:Saransk

edit

Is it a very particular (narrow) category? Or what? --Brateevsky (talk) 12:10, 25 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

It doesn't exist. No red linked categories. Need at least three articles for a category to be created for it. --LauraHale (talk) 12:21, 25 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
I did check the archives, but it seems this is the first en.wn reference to Saransk. --Pi zero (talk) 12:57, 25 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
