Talk:Reutimann 'earns' second career NASCAR Sprint Cup race win

Title edit

I think this should be renamed, The 2010 and Summer are unnecessary parts to this title (2010 because this is news...of course it's 2010 and happening right now, and "Summer" because there is only one race at the track, we do not have to differentiate between a spring and a summer race). However, when it's eliminated it becomes "NASCAR: David Reutimann wins race in Joliet, Illinois" which is boring. So, are there other ideas on what to name this to? Either way (talk) 04:18, 11 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I understand, but in future purposes 2010 has to stay. About the Summer part, let me think about it. --Nascar1996 04:20, 11 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Then say he won the 2010 ___________. "2010 NASCAR:" looks off though. Either way (talk) 04:24, 11 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Such as David Ruetimann wins 2010 NASCAR race in Joliet, Illinois?--Nascar1996 04:26, 11 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Is my headline better? He will never win his 2nd Cup Series race again. --InfantGorilla (talk) 12:56, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

That is true. That is true. It is fine withe me. I will be doing good once I get good titles. :) --Nascar1996 12:57, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
We always debate titles. Especially sports. I hope it is not a form of bikeshedding.
Only bit I didn't like about the title was that I changed the tense in the quote. I guess Reutimann wins second career NASCAR Sprint Cup race would be ok, but ambiguous (second race or second victory?).
On second thoughts, when you get good titles, you will be doing real good.

Problem is that SceneDaily changed its presentation of the quote after publication, leading to the accusation of an editorial grammar change by us. The version in the daylife web cache [1] exactly matches what Nascar1996 wrote here. I restored based on the version at the source today. --InfantGorilla (talk) 12:55, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for clearing that up, IG. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 13:36, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

BRS, Did you have to read the entire play-by-play on MSN/Fox to verify the humber of lead changes and cautions? I gave up attempting to verify when I got to that, and left it to more determined souls. --InfantGorilla (talk) 15:00, 12 July 2010 (UTC) Oh, I see, the stats are hidden in the 'summary' button in a little Flash widget (top right) that my browser doesn't normally show. (My browser wears a tin foil hat.)--InfantGorilla (talk) 15:05, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm surprised someone on Wikipedia adn Wikinews havn't noticed that until now. --Nascar1996 15:18, 12 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
