Talk:Pair taken off plane because of "suspicious" behaviour

The article says "the men were of Asian or Middle Eastern appearance", which sounds a little odd to me. Is this the UK use of the term "asian", which includes people from India, Pakistan, and neighbouring countries? It still seems like more of an either/or combination to me, rather than a pair of closely related racial groups. --Imroy 13:55, 20 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Asian also includes China, Thailand, etc. You might want to brush up on your geography. 786 14:09, 20 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
The term "asian" has slightly different interpretations in different parts of the world. That's what I was trying to sort out. You might try not being a dick in the future. --Imroy 08:16, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Just wondering whether these events are becoming so frequent they are part of a continuing trend deserving an infobox? "Airplane disruptions" or something like that? Maybe not, just wondering about it. Neutralizer 15:23, 20 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Oh, I think its pretty funny if category terrorism fills up with false allerts. Or you could make a seperate histeria infobox.

was not a good idea:

  1. it came too late.
  2. "incident was racist" is pov, the security authorities wld almost cerainly deny it.

It was a good idea:

  1. I noticed the POV title only recently.
  2. The relevant authorities say-"Patrick Mercer, a homeland security spokesman for the Conservative Party, told the Mail on Sunday today: "For those unfortunate two men to be victimised because of the colour of their skin is just nonsense.".

If you wish, I will unpublish and we can discuss this issue further. Till then I will revert your edit. Thanks. PVJ(Talk)  14:30, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

published articles shldn't be changed "long after" publication (threshold has been 2 days), except to issue corrections. Mercer is a spokesman for a political patry, and as such, his views do not necessarily become uncontested truth - it's just one pov, and as i said earlier, one which will be denied by the security folks. i see no reason to highlight this one view in the title.
