'Lorry' does mean truck right? Or is it a certain category of truck? Contralya 01:35, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, lorry does mean truck in the UK (and by anyone who learned UK English, so most of Europe, although they should know truck too, if they got as far as learning lorry). The only real difference is that a pickup truck would not be covered by 'lorry'. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 06:18, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, I remember hearing that the majority of nation's English (at least commonwealth ones) comes from UK English. So is truck universal or just American? Contralya 14:57, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- I think that's a debatable point, but my understanding is that both words are technicaly limited by region, but in reality truck is known everywhere and just about counts as universal, although in some places lorry is more common. But then again, I'm no language expert, so there may be exceptions to that. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 16:30, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
