Talk:Microsoft's attempt to buy out Yahoo may never happen

Removed sentence edit

I removed the following sentence: "The ongoing battle has hurt stock prices of both Microsoft and Yahoo!." This is speculation, which would only be OK if we could attribute it to someone (eg. "John Doe, an anlyst with NamelessBrokerage said ..."). But I didn't find anything in the sources to attribute it to. --SVTCobra 21:53, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

It showed stock prices in one of the articles I sourced. It dosn't take an analst to see they have fallen since this deal started.--Ryan524 - (talk) 22:00, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
I added it back, just saying the prices have decreased while discussions have gone on. (Source = CNET News). Cirt - (talk) 22:01, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ah good I was just going to go though the sources again to find it. You saved me some time.--Ryan524 - (talk) 22:02, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
One thing is to say that they have fallen (as the article now does), but it was another to claim that it is because of the merger/takeover talks. It could be because of any number of reasons, such as the weakening economy, credit crisis, falling revenue of MS, etc, etc. In the last sentence I removed the "one thing is clear" which was speculative and I attributed the rest to the IDG guy. --SVTCobra 22:11, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well I think it is clear thay CAN do that,as it was worded, not speculation if they would. Either way thanks for your help.--Ryan524 - (talk) 22:14, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nice work, SVTCobra (talk · contribs), article looks better. Cirt - (talk) 22:16, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Category edit

I noticed while editing that a desire for a "mergers & acquistions"-type category was expressed in a note. I think this is a valid news category. However, we do not have that much business news, but on the other hand, there are probably a number of articles in the archive, perhaps even enough to start this category. --SVTCobra 22:23, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ah so you saw that, I wasn't sure so I just left it as a note to see, I meant to put something here but got off track...lol...glad you noticed.--Ryan524 - (talk) 22:27, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Eh, I'm iffy on this one. Checking Portal:Economy and business, the main category seems sufficient, at least at this point in time. Cirt - (talk) 22:42, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
I agree, but is something to keep in mind as we (hopefully) grow. --SVTCobra 22:48, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
