Sorry I was rushed this morning, the problem was the choice of words in one or two places. The word "claimed" is better when a politician, company, or religious figure says something. Also you don't "affirm" something when you say it the first time, you "affirm" something someone else said. And usually only if you have some real authority, say by having done your own experement. And one generally explains that authority.
Yes, you might say "pope reaffirms opposition to abortion" but here the word "opposition" makes it clear that its an opinion. Likewise "Khamenei reaffirms that apostates are to be killed" or "The Pope affirms that evolution does not contradict catholic dogma" are fine too since these are statments strictly about religious rules which they control. But Khamenei & The Pope lack the qualifications to "affirm" the truth of evolution, principles of economics, etc. Anything they say on these topics is a "claim", "assertion", etc. Nyarlathotep 17:49, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
