  • "major upheaval in the Ukraine"? Seriously? Although I acknowledge that Russia might not like it if their invasion of Crimea is called an invasion, and we can readily call it an "action" or something, "major upheaval in the Ukraine" is a misrepresentation of events because the thing that's relevant to this story is Russian's part in said upheaval.
  • The assertion that the Ukraine thing is causal in the crackdown is an interpretation. The two ways for us to report on such a thing are two attribute it to someone who said it (but not, under most circumstances, to another news service, such as the WSJ), or to juxtapose the facts but not assert a causal connection, leaving it for the reader to judge.
