I think this is bordering on copyvio. it is very similiar to the poll itself and adds nothing new. Bawolff 02:53, 28 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

But it doesn't add anything new to the poll (or even re-word/change anything). yes its intreasting, but we can't just go and copy their poll (in my opinion). Bawolff 03:01, 28 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
My main problem with it is its a direct copy of the poll page. (polls are covered by copyright too). Articles are different from their sources by rewording. how is this different from its source? Bawolff 03:20, 28 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

there are several problems with the article

  1. the poll is ongoing, and these numbers may change. it would be advisable to wait for the poll to end, before reporting on it.
  2. as a footnote points out, this is not a scientific survey and the poll respondents are self selected. therefore, it is unlikely to be representative of the U.S. population and the article headline is not supported by the results of the poll. something like "poll finds 87% of respondents" is more correct.
  3. i too believe that we shld do more than simply report the questions and results of the poll to have a news article about the poll. things such as comparisons to similar recent polls or identical polls in the past will help, an explanations of how online surveys differ from statistical polls would help.

I agree. If this article is to remain at all, it must be retitled to clearly indicate that this poll is not necessarily represetative of the entire American population. Or any population for that matter. No useful conclusions can be drawn from self-selective polls. 66.188.214.36 02:32, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I made some substantive changes to the copy--this should fix any copyvio issues. Moonty 19:24, 28 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Americans

edit

Is it really AMERICANS, because it is an online poll and I doubt it would stop some (no offense) Europeans who dislike Americans from voting? Neebs 23:45, 28 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Neebs, if this poll was made available to the rest of the world it would be 97% right now. Cowicide 08:37, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
that is an interesting question though. I went to the poll page, and it offered me to vote (I didn't though). they could of easily figured out I was Canadian however (via IP), but they didn't. But then again, how many people around the world read msnbc? Bawolff 08:43, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
The problem, I think with the poll is that it allows you to vote as many times as you want, therefore causing inaccuracies, but none te less it is interesting, and as long as we quote that the pollitself is by MSNBC and non scientific, we can report on it. But nonetheless, pools like this are going to become news a lot in the near future I think. But the poll really is not all that innacruate. His approval rating is at what 20%(ish)? If so then technically speaking, 80% plus or minus a 5% of error would want him impeached. DragonFire1024 20:10, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
