Talk:Gallup poll: Islamophobia prevalent in United States
sources
editat least one source cited properly, and this should go to the second lead... Towsonu2003 04:50, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- This needs extensive cleanup, and for a subject for this I'd be reluctant to see it published with a single source. --Brian McNeil / talk 21:48, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- Agreed, I'd also suggest splitting the Gallup poll from the radio conversation. While related, the second caricaturises the first. -- Zanimum 18:18, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
what about now? pls add publish tag if good Towsonu2003 04:36, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
ripe??
editWhat, tender and delicious? Are you sure you don't mean rife? 74.134.236.69 22:34, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
- I've moved it to "Gallup poll: Islamaphobia advanced in United States". I changed "ripe" to "advanced". Hopfully this is a better title. —FellowWikiNews (W) 22:52, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
- Is that necessary any better? "Advances" implies that anti-Muslim sentiment is on the rise, and this poll alone doesn't imply that: it simply tells us what people thought at the time it was conducted. Probably the best word to use would be something like "prevalent" or "rife", though the latter carries a negative connotation that might consistute a PoV issue. 75.177.11.240 23:55, 9 December 2006 (UTC) AC2012
- I truly hope that what this poll tells us has negative connotations... Also, prevalent may be better than advanced in the title. Advanced tells us that the sentiment is going up, so the item would need a citation for that (shouldn't be hard to ind, but I just don't have time or desire to search for such citation). Towsonu2003 23:59, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
- I guess I made a mistake by changing "ripe" to "advanced". I don't even have any interest in this story so please change the title as many times as you want.

Problems with this article
editOk, anon making inappropriate comments inside the article aside, apart from Hooper's claim in the cited source, I can't find this gallup poll anywhere, and even the cited source just refers to Hooper. Can someoen else locate this poll? JoshuaZ 04:35, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- Never mind, found it mentioned here which I'll add as a source. JoshuaZ 04:35, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- Hmm, that source puts the poll way back in August. I'm not sure this is news as such. Thoughts? JoshuaZ 04:39, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- Even ignoring that, Nothing mentions how the poll was conducted at all, or really very little about the poll. You can get any resualt for a poll if you try hard enough. 24.65.52.20 05:23, 22 December 2006 (UTC) user:Bawolff
- it's from Dec 9th, so it's too late. sources are trustworthy enough. I perceive bias. let the item alone anyway... :) Towsonu2003 07:22, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- We can presume that Gallup and USAToday will conduct a fairly unbiased poll without evidence to the contrary. JoshuaZ 16:04, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
