Comments by reviewer: In the first line, sales of the 500 euro note stopped last year, not today according to the daily mail source. Second paragraph: "£1 million in €500 notes weighs 2.2g", I believe that should be 2.2kg. Questions about the above? Ask. If possible, please address the above issues then resubmit the article for another review (by replacing {{tasks}} in the article with {{review}}). This talk page will be updated with subsequent reviews. |

- Thanks for the review. On further examination, as far as I can work out (from the telly and the sources) the note was secretly withdrawn last month (not last year) but they've only just got the agreement of all the currency agents to stop selling them. Is that still newsworthy? I can work on the style links, though which links do you feel a re surplus to requirements? The "American feel" surprised me a little bit (I'm an Englishman)- I added the Dollar conversions because the Beeb did and because it's a widely used measure for currency. As for "states" vs "country", I don't really use the terms to be mutually exclusive but I can change that :). Your thoughts? Thanks again for your time. - I've left a not for James, but he appears to be offline at the minute, so I'd welcome further input and feedback. Thanks, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:03, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, I'm getting my words muddled up. I meant last month, not last year. On the links side of things "the Bin Laden" doesn't need a link since Bin Laden isn't strictly relevant to the story but an explanation that it's in reference to the fellow would do. On the currency thing, we're having to be very international. If we were to reference USD, then why not Yen or the old French Franks system as people still use them and read this site. On that note we may be favouring Britain a bit too much as well. Most cases it's alright because it's a British story but using it as a reference isn't. Lastly, the European Union has member countries, not states. I'm think I'm right in saying that using the word state's in this situation is something often done in America and is wrongly used mainly (no one hit me please, this is what I believe is happening) because of ignorance. Hope I haven't sounded too strict or bossy. --James Pain (talk) 16:11, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- I changed it to "nations" simply to avoid having the word "country" twice in the same sentence. Should I take all GBP/USD conversions out or just leave one or t'other? I'll look at better working Bin Laden in in a moment (blocking vandals on en.wiki!). Thanks again, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:23, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- Nations sounds fine. All conversions should ideally be taken out, yes. I'll set the state of the article to develop. When you're done, submit it for review again and I'll have a look through. Hope en.wiki isn't too bad, keep up the good work. --James Pain (talk) 16:35, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- Okay then, any better? Vandals all seem to have got bored (or blocked) now :). HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:39, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

RE: Revision 1019161
editThe revision put in a paragraph that had no source to go by and went against some points in the style guide. This is why it was undone. http://en.wikinews.org/w/index.php?title=Five_hundred_Euro_note_withdrawn_from_sale_in_UK&action=historysubmit&diff=1019161&oldid=1018973 --James Pain (talk) 23:39, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
