- I was watching the Dallas, Texas Fox news affiliate (on TV) Monday morning, and saw this. I live about 17 miles away from Van.....and we had HORRIFIC rains last night. During that broadcast, they said there were "10 people missing", but had no confirmed fatalities at that moment. --Bddpaux (talk) 15:31, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
- I visited the site on Monday, roughly 4:35pm - 5:05pm....center part of the town. It was horrible. I'm not talking just a few tree branches (although there were plenty of them along the town's eastern section)....I'm talking bad stuff. Debris was EVERYWHERE. It looked like a battalion of tree-trimming trucks/equipment had invaded the place! The old school building was hard hit...windows, walls; I even noticed the old weather vane on the roof was bent over....funny the little things you notice.--Bddpaux (talk) 02:55, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
Verified bit
editIn an e-mail I received Tuesday morning, a resident of the town verified that the building I referenced as 'historic' was indeed the town's first school. It is over 100 years old. --Bddpaux (talk) 14:45, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
