Wrong Dates edit

The WikiNews article says the accident was at 10:20 a.m. on Friday January 9, yet it was actually 10:20 a.m. on Thursday January 8. Both of the cited sources report January 8. (Maybe they knew about the accident in advance? </conspiracy>) In any case, why is it included in WikiNews for Sunday, January 11, 2009? I haven't updated the article, since it has already been reviewed and passed as verifiable. For now, this is just a comment. AndrewAllen (talk) 17:26, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

January 11 edit

why is this included on news for January 11 if it happened on January 9 ? Matthewishere0 (talk) 15:19, 14 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Matthewishere0: The date on a news article is the date of publication, not necessarily when the focal event occurred. This article describes the event as having taken place on "Friday". If the article had been published one day earlier than it was, on Saturday, January 10, it ought to have described the event as having taken place "yesterday"; or if the article had been published two days earlier than it was, on Friday, January 9, it ought to have described the event as having taken place "today". --Pi zero (talk) 15:43, 14 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
