Title misses point of article edit
Wouldn't "Students counter indecency charges by complaining about Bible" be more accurate? Or something along those lines. --SVTCobra 00:10, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
- I changed it mainly because it was so bad. But if you read the article as written, you'll see that there is no mention of students being responsible for the complaints. They probably are, but we can't assume so. I think the title is fine, as is. It doesn't miss the point at all. It is just a fact. Jcart1534 00:22, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
- I am not complaining about your change. The previous title was even worse (bad grammar). But the whole thing is a protest of the indecency charges against the student newspaper. For some reason our article fails to mention this: (I quote from Reuters) "The complaints follow the launch of an anonymous Web site -- www.truthbible.net -- which said the holy book "made one tremble" given its sexual and violent content, including rape and incest." The website and the complaints are designed to draw attention to the hypocrisy of the charges against CUHK Student Journal. The title of this wikinews article is misleading because it suggests that the outrage is genuinely about the bible. --SVTCobra 00:46, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
- I know exactly what you are saying SVT, and I do agree with you that the thrust of the article alludes to that connection. So then the title should be something like "Recent complaints of indecency against the Bible in Hong Kong are likely submitted in protest of a ruling that a student newspaper article on sex was indecent", or longer if possible? :) Anyway, have a go at it if you want. Number of complaints edit
With each edit the number of complaints seems to go up. I have no idea what the Chinese language sources say, but the Reuters article says this: A spokesperson for Hong Kong's Television and Entertainment Licensing authority (TELA) said it had received 838 complaints about the Bible by noon Wednesday. Can anyone document a number above 838? --SVTCobra 02:37, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
- Found and added an AP source that quotes TELA (on Thursday) as having received 1766 complaints against the Bible. Jcart1534 03:13, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
