- Ideally, I should've written an article between the other one and THIS one, to sort of "glue" things together, but I've just been too busy with work/family......so I'll have to get creative, I suppose. --Bddpaux (talk) 20:45, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
On Friday morning, I learned via an extended family member's (S.J.) Facebook page that she/other community members were planning to host a bake sale to raise money for the family. This dialogue transpired (I've edited it slightly for spelling/brevity):
- Q: Hey Sharon, I'm writing an article about the community's response to the event; can you tell me a little more about the bake sale?? (P.S. Can I quote you/use your name??)
- A: Paul that is so awesome...yes of course you can. This bake sale is to raise money for any expenses such as funeral mostly, etc., for the Benefield family. Alicia Benefield was a 19 year old Precious Angel that was brutally murdered [edited]. She was missing for 5 days before [edited]. God put this on my heart the morning after they found her body to do this for this family that is having to endure the horrific loss of their prescious daughter, sister, niece, cousin. The murder has literally devastated this family. I am naming the event Precious Angel Alicia Benefield Bake Sale. The bake sale is going to be at Bethany Thriftway, Bethany, Texas on Sunday March 23rd at 1 PM. [edited] will be helping me. We appreciate all who will [be] bringing items to the sale and all who will be buying items to raise money for this family. This murder has devastated the entire community. Thanks so much for writing this article.

- At 9:19pm on Sunday evening, SJ message'd me on Facebook: "The bake sale was a big success. I feel so blessed.." --Bddpaux (talk) 14:33, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- I was childhood schoolmates with Ms. Benefield's older cousin. He made some grieving remarks on his Facebook page. I'm going to slide in one of his quotes as the Facebook page indicates that 121 people "liked" his post, and 13 people commented about it, so I think "private" is pretty much out the window. I wont use his name, though, because I've communicated with him minimally about the event. --Bddpaux (talk) 14:58, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- That post reads, in part (partially edited for content/brevity): "RIP Alicia Benefield, for you are gone way too [...] soon. Struggling to know how someone could do such a horrific thing. Everyone keep sending your prayers and thoughts [edited]. I know God exists and you bet he'll deal with [edited] Not so [edited]." --Bddpaux (talk) 15:09, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
