Talk:Cities across Texas increase efforts to combat mosquitos

Asked him about the city of Malakoff potentially spraying for mosquitos....he told me they've recently been spraying on Tuesdays and Fridays. They use a licensed pesticide specialist; he sprays twice weekly. Q: How does he do the spraying? A: "In a truck. He starts at one end of town and goes to the other end. The wind speed, the humidity, things like that have to be just right or he can't spray." He also stated he's noticed fewer mosquitos in the city. "This is more [frequently] than we normally spray." and "With the concerns in Dallas, we're taking it seriously." --Bddpaux (talk) 03:59, 12 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Print source notes edit

  • Material for para 3 comes from the AP source [paragraph 11].

Heh. It's not as easy as it looks, is it? :-)  --Pi zero (talk) 17:26, 12 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Minor (slightly funny) coincidence edit

  • I actually work for one of the agencies mentioned in the source(s).....I had no idea these articles even existed when I decided to write this story this morning.........I just glimpsed a headline in The Dallas Morning News (print copy) and thought it'd be a good topic to write about!--Bddpaux (talk) 21:20, 11 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

My 'general' knowledge edit

  • I've spent way too many hours driving all over the Dallas area...............the mentioned sections (North Dallas, Highland Park and University Park) are pretty densely populated parts of the city/county. --Bddpaux (talk) 21:43, 11 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
