Comments by reviewer: The article needs to distinguish carefully between the culture and the bacteria. I've spent this whole review figuring this out as best I could. A culture is, usually, a culture medium in which bacteria are being grown (cultured, a verb related to "agriculture"). However, it's possible that the folks covering this are using the term culture to really mean culture medium, either because they're being just a little sloppy or because they don't realize the difference, or most likely some mix of both. The bacteria most assuredly were not developed by the Centre; they occur naturally in these starfish. I'm honestly unsure whether the stuff injected into the starfish contains the bacteria at all, or is just the culture medium. The effect of the injection is, as I understand it, that these naturally occurring bacteria in the starfish multiply out of control, killing that starfish and some others near it. I've already changed the headline, because what needed doing there seemed unambiguous — it could only be done one way, really, and as has been pointed out, if there's only one way to fix the problem, there's no moral difference between the reviewer saying it has to be done, and the reviewer doing it. But the article text needs more extensive work. Questions about the above? Ask.
