I've never edited a news article before, but I corrected a misstatement in the last sentence, and I added a source to the bottom of the source list. If the November 2001 crash of AA 587 in Belle Harbor was considered a crash at the airport (when it happened in Belle Harbor, NY after departure from JFK), then Colgan Air 3407 is also a crash at the airport (crashing in Clarence Center, NY while on approach to Buffalo Niagara). However, if these two crashes are referred to, it would be simpler to call them the only major air accidents in the US, not at US airports, as they are the only ones that have happened in the US during that time. - In reviewing some edits, I provided attribution for a claim that clearly should be attributed (181 in hospital and one unaccounted for), and removed entirely the statement at the end about first/second/nth major crash in the US since whenever; that would be easy for someone to get wrong in the heat of the moment, so should be attributed if mentioned at all, and since "major" sounds subjective one might want to be clearer about what it means, and... frankly fixing it would be far more trouble than it's worth. It was appropriately placed at the bottom of the inverted pyramid, and I don't think its removal is a loss (and could argue it's a gain).
- From those two passages, I wonder a bit whether this article has been as careful as it should be about attributing claims of fact. It wouldn't be the first time we've allowed ourselves to be rushed when trying to cover a breaking story and had the crucial attribution element of our policies (key to WN:NPOV) slip. That should not be allowed to happen (yes, it's happened to me too as a reviewer, and yes it was just as bad then). --Pi zero (talk) 02:52, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
