Talk:20th edition of FIB music festival begins

Latest comment: 9 years ago by Pi zero in topic OR

Hello. The users Aparaulart and the photographer Batiste Safont are present at this festival with a press card to cover it. This press card was provided by Wikimedia Spain. The original article was created on Catalan and later translated by me to Spanish and English. Please, fix the mistakes you find in it. Thanks. --Millars (talk) 11:04, 19 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello Pi zero (t · c · b). Thanks for your comments.
  • You know that we are talking about a music festival. There are not any note on paper. The user went to the festival and during the next afternoon she wrote the article directly. It's quite difficult to take note during a music festival, and we think that in this case notes were not necessary because she could remember what listened the night before. I'm a trusted user in other Wikimedia projects. I asked for the press cards for these two users as a vicepresident of Wikimedia Spain. If you don't trust me, ok. I could send you an e-mail from the festival but there is personal information.
  • I don't understand this point. Web site of the project? Which project? The event has many many pages about it on internet and plenty of information. But if we did an original report, I think we shouldn't link to external reports.
  • The same, there are not any note. And if there were, during a 4 days music festival, how can anyone scan a paper far from home? We are volunteers.
One solution, I'll add notes from other medias, so the original report changes to a article based on other sources if you want. I think that all this bureaucracy scares new users. --Millars (talk) 00:00, 21 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Emails can be sent to scoop (email to "scoop at wikinewsie dot org"). Things that should not be made public, such as emails containing personal data, or embargoed press materials, can be sent there.
When you submit here, you should want to provide lots of documentation, more than we need. Your goal isn't to get us to take your word for things; your goal is to document it all really well, so that any reader who looks at the article can clearly see that you did your best to provide lots of documentation, and see that we reviewed your submission carefully rather than just taking your word for it. These things are what makes successful publishing here worth readers' attention. Documentation of OR isn't wikt:red tape, rigid rules blindly followed for their own sake. It's the core principle that enables us to publish highly trust-worthy news while being a wiki open to submission by anyone in the world. (News services like BBC etc. have the luxury of vetting reporters when hiring them; we don't have that luxury.)
That said, we're working on ways to make it easier for contributors to know what they're supposed to be doing. It's a long process, since wiki software is designed for writing content on an encyclopedia that vets submissions after publication. --Pi zero (talk) 03:09, 21 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Pi zero, I think that you didn't understand me. I didn't say that my words are things, but that the reporters had the press pass. I didn't talk about the content of the article. My question now is the following, now the article has two sources, without the template of OR, has it the same problem? --Millars (talk) 08:08, 21 July 2014 (UTC) PS I sent an email to scoopReply
Finally I talked with the user who was at the festival (Aparaulart) and she'll upload some notes. --Millars (talk) 11:11, 21 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Article status edit

Reviewer will have to carefully sort through the relative dating, as well as the presentation given that the phase of things described is now days old. There are interesting questions of OR versus synthesis here, as well as questions of documentation standards if it is OR. --Pi zero (talk) 03:22, 21 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello,

I'm writing in order to send you some notes that I took on the first day of the music festival. These notes only contain information about some bands that played at the main stage. I am sorry but this was my first time as a reporter and everything was new for me. However, I would try to do it better if I had another chance like this in a future.

I also have some papers containing the songs played by several bands that could be taken at the press area or looked up on the https://www.facebook.com/fibfestival.

My colleague Batiste Safont and I were provided with an especial wristband that allowed us to access the concert venue and the press area. Everything was ok but I would like to let you know that official photographers only had permission to take pictures during the first three songs of every concert.

If you need more details, please, let me know.

Thanks. (No need to apologize — there's a learning curve, we all know it and we try to help folks up it. :-)  --Pi zero (talk) 17:16, 23 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
