Subtropical storm forms over the Atlantic

The tenth named storm of the Atlantic Hurricane season, Subtropical Storm Jerry, formed in the Atlantic Ocean today.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) says that at this point Jerry poses no threat to land.

At 5 p.m. EST, Jerry was about 1,060 miles (1710 km) west of the Azores.

Maximum winds are currently sustained at 40 mph (60 km/h).

The storm is predicted to begin moving north-northeast this evening.
