New Zealand's South Island and southern North Island struck by storms

South Island and southern North Island are lashed by high winds, rain as a heavy low approaches. Power outages in Wellington, and the airport is closed with flight diverted to Palmerston-North. Met Service has severe weather warnings up, and predicts bad weather for the next 10 days.
