White House predicts $427 billion deficit

The record-shattering estimate is "conservative", and higher than the Budget Office's number of 328 billion USD. The Budget Office's long-term predictions suggest deficit spending will taper off by 2012, but (as with their projection of the current deficit spending) it does not include costs of war. President Bush's 2006 budget is expected at the Capitol on Feb. 7, and it too will not include requests for war funds; those are expected in separate funding requests as they were in 2004.
