Richard Park scored the first goal for the Islanders shorthanded 3:22 into the first period. Just 36 seconds later, the Penguins answered back when Petr Sykora scored a power play goal to tie the score. Bill Guerin scored in the second period to retake the lead for the Islanders. Sean Bergenheim scored a power play goal a few minutes later, then Trent Hunter gave New York a three goal lead 12:41 into the third period.

Andrei Kostitsyn scored the Canadiens' first goal 1:40 into the game. Christopher Higgins gave Montreal a two goal lead later in the first, then Kostitsyn scored his second of the night on a power play to put Montreal ahead by three goals. Antoine Vermette put the Senators on the board just under the halfway point of the second period. Francis Bouillon scored a couple minutes later to put Montreal back up by 3. Andrei Markov increased Montreal's lead to 4, then 42 seconds later, Mikhail Grabovski scored to give Montreal a five goal lead. Tom Kostopoulos scored a shorthanded goal with 46 seconds left in the second period. Dany Heatley scored 3:04 into the third period. That was closely followed by a Martin Lapointe goal. Heatley scored his second of the night to bring Ottawa within three. Ottawa came within two with 1:58 left in regulation when Jason Spezza scored a power play goal.

Jordan Leopold scored a power play goal to break a scoreless tie 6:36 into the second period. Milan Hejduk scored his 24th goal of the season 12:19 into the third period, an insurance goal which wasn't needed, as Jose Theodore held the Flames scoreless in his third shutout of the season.

Minnesota Wild @ Edmonton Oilers

In the first 5:02 of the game, the Oilers jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Curtis Glencross, Andrew Cogliano, and Dustin Penner each scored. Nick Schultz scored 5:41 in the first, which put the Wild on the board. Kyle Brodziak scored for Edmonton 3:54 into the second, but Minnesota answered 1:10 later with Sean Hill's first goal of the season. Cogliano scored his second of the night later in the second period. Todd Fedoruk brought the Wild within 2 with 7:30, but couldn't get the puck past Dwayne Roloson again, as he earns his 13th win of the season.

Player of the Day

Today's Player of the Day is Andrei Kostitsyn of the Montreal Canadiens. Kostitsyn scored two goals in the first period, helping the Canadiens in a 7-5 win over the Ottawa Senators.
