A helicopter named the XB-PIP crashed on Sunday April 14 at 17:20 local time (06:00 UTC) on a Mexico City public transport parking lot. The crash occurred in an area near UNAM's Ciudad Universitaria, south of Mexican capital. Of the 3 people aboard, none survived. In addition to the pilot, the victims are reported to be two tourists from South Korea.

The helicopter, registration XB-PIP, owned by Helidorm, collapsed after an alleged loss of engine power, which could have been caused by a fuel leak, according to preliminary investigations. Witnesses stated that the pilot of the plane, Armando Cervantes, made maneuvers to fall in a relatively empty area. The version was confirmed by President Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador in his morning conference, pointing out a "tribute to the pilot because everything indicates that he maneuvered to avoid falling where there were houses with families". The aircraft fell on a property that serves as a parking lot for public transport buses at the intersection of Del Imán and Aztecas avenues, in the Coyoacán district in the south of the Mexican capital.

Recordings between the helicopter pilot and the control tower were published on the social network X, reporting the last location of the aircraft as Paseo de la Reforma, in downtown Mexico City. Subsequent communication attempts by the tower have no response, so the tower proceeds to ask another helicopter if it observes the helicopter with broken communication, who confirms that he observes the remains of the XB-PIP.
