An explosion partially destroyed an intelligence building in the city of Rafah, Egypt late tonight (Saturday). The explosion occurred just before midnight local time in Rafah. Witnesses report a large plume of smoke rising from the location.

It is not yet known what caused the explosion, but initial reports suggested it was a bomb. Authorities are searching the area for the possibility of more explosives. There are no reports of injuries or deaths.

Rafah sits on the border with the Gaza Strip in Palestine.
