How is it the government's business whether people have television service or not?
I consider TV on the whole to have a negative impact on society, and I'm upset that my tax dollars are going to fund the TV industry. - The point of the push for the change in signal is to free large parts of the spectrum for other uses. The spectrum is a public resource so the government naturally is in charge of regulating it. That is why this is happening. The delay idea here is because people are still not adequately prepared, and there is no more money allotted to push preparedness to required levels. TV has taken the role of public addressing system for things like the emergency broadcasting severe weather and evacuations, etc. Essential services. 72.154.55.98 23:41, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
I love hearing people freaking out about this saying "Oh my God, nobody ever told me my TV won't work next month!!" and they've been running this commercial campaign for at least a year now. If people haven't received their coupons in the mail by now, they are idiots and don't even deserve them. re: DTV coupons edit
The coupons for $40 are to help offset the cost of a converter box. When the coupons were first proposed the converters cost $40 to $60. Currently, most are being priced in the $60 to $100 range for the exact same procuct.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.120.26.250 (talk • contribs)
