For real

if they are Pirates, why go their by the Coast? Why this ships don't have escorts? USA,NATO and even Russia has ships off Somalia. And they can't even protect a ship with tanks on broad let alone a oil tanker? --KDP3 (talk) 04:43, 18 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

The excuse I read was that the deep sea off Kenya was not considered risky. The naval protection is concentrated round Somalia, many hundreds of miles from this hijack. Clearly the pirates knew this as well. --InfantGorilla (talk) 21:15, 18 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
830 km is pretty far from the coast. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.140.9.97 (talk) 19:09, 19 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

India is the superpower in the region and their navy is large enough. Cost to operate an navy operation far from home will be huge. RGDS Alexmcfire —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexmcfire (talkcontribs) 06:48, 20 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
