"Porque no te callas, Lula" --SVTCobra 18:29, 18 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nice one, compare Chavez to Thatcher. There are so many ways that could end up true. Thatcher brutally suppressed the miners' strike, I can just see Chavez running into problems with protests about his planned reforms. But, they're opposite ends of the spectrum. Chavez will make workers' groups and unions overly powerful, Thatcher set out to de-fang them and take away all their influence. --Brian McNeil / talk 18:50, 18 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I recently had dinner with the family of a high ranking Brazilian judge, and they expressed to me that they are worried Lula may be trying to achieve a similar dictatorship in Brazil as Chavez appears to be aiming for in Venezuela. Let's hope brazil holds together. --Shaggorama 12:20, 21 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

the last line of this news is not entirely true, the proposal for the constitution's article is about the possibility of unlimited re-election, not that chávez will govern for life, not necessarily anyway —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.11.197.218 (talk) 21:06, 21 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Exactly and that is an impression CONSTANTLY being made in the western media, amongst many others to "paint" the government of Venezuela as harbouring authoritarian tendancies. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.239.105.238 (talk) 01:02, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
