This story confirms my opinion that there are plenty nuts about in the world. --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 91.149.8.162 (talkcontribs)

Under international law the occupying aggressor force is responsible for any and all deaths that result under their occupation, the U.S knew or should have known that arming shiite only militias would cause sectarian violence and the people of Iraq now have to pay the price. The first thing we need to do is to get our troops out, then we can start paying massive reparations to this country that we began to destroy in the 1960's when we put Saddam Hussein in power, and then finally ultimately reduced to rubble over the past 6 years.Soapy (talk) 17:20, 5 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I was there. edit

As a solider deployed to the area of the mentioned incident, we were not authorized to be near where this occurred. I believe we had a 1/4 of a mile cut off point from the entrance of the shrine. The US Army was not involved with the suicide bombing, only receiving intelligence explaining the incident after it occurred. However, we did react as security moments after the car bomb "9 days prior" had exploded.

Words cannot justify the details of that scene.-71.200.112.249 (talk) 06:54, 4 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

A point edit

Ashura is not a day of celebration , it is a day where the Shia heroes are commemorated. If a person for example lost a beloved , they don't celebrate such a day / occasion --37.121.114.78 (talk)

For perspective, here is the first-listed meaning of celebrate on our sister project Wiktionary:
  1. (transitive) To extol or honour in a solemn manner.
to celebrate the name of the Most High
