I cannot accept how a legitimately elected government can be overthrown by the parliament, one that has improved their majority in the last election at that. If they do this, what is the point of having an election? What Dion and his accomplices are doing is overwriting the decision of the Canadian citizens and voting their own concocted government using their convoluted reasoning. Politician voted government indeed. --d3j4vu 01:55, 9 December 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.167.15.163 (talk) Reply

Anyone else find it odd that a Hatian-born, ex-radio host gets to choose how our country is run? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.70.245.76 (talkcontribs) 07:29, 5 December 2008

Well the previous GG was born in Hong Kong and was a TV host, so I guess it is par for the course. --SVTCobra 09:25, 5 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Dion for king? edit

So the economy sucks. Harper tries to cut funding for political parties. Makes sense, gov't setting the good example. Dion says "no, i needs my monies!!" and bam we have a coup on our hands. Greedy greedy... Now Dion wants to throw $30 billion at the economy and has no clue where it's gonna come from. Better not be my pocket... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.200.27.250 (talkcontribs)

You're missing the point there. The Conservative Party gets most of its funding from religions and corporations. The other parties get most of their funding from standardized government payments. The "government funded political parties" thing is designed to make sure that the rich and the in-pocket-of-corporations parties can't dominate the government. So basically what went on here is that Prime Minister Harper attempted to (effectively) ban all other political parties by cutting off their only source of funding. The other parties naturally objected:P.
Harper has been as anti-democratic as it is possible for a Prime Minister to be, short of declaring martial law and deploying troops into the streets:P. His actions have been one short step away from criminal. What's sad is that the Canadian public is so disinterested in politics that they can't be bothered to even notice what he's been up to.
At this point it isn't even a matter of whether or not you're a Conservative supporter. Frankly if Joe Clark ran for Prime Minister I'd probably vote for him. But Harper? Liar. Cheater. The Conservatives REALLY need to get rid of that sorry excuse for a human and install someone that has honour and integrity, because Harper has neither. Gopher65talk 20:15, 5 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
I agree. About time liberals actually did something. (Although i'm not really a fan of Dion. Too bad Layton or Elizabeth May doesn't really have a chance, ever). Bawolff 01:55, 6 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hypocrisy edit

So forming a coalition to overthrow the minority Paul Martin government was just fulfilling the will of the Canadian public, but forming a coalition to overthrow the minority Harper government is "undemocratic" ?

Politicians are all idiots. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.48.198.223 (talkcontribs)

Yikes edit

Whoever photoshopped Harper's official portrait isn't so great with the paths tool... or much else, for that matter. A solid white BG with no feathering? at least put in a picture of Dion killing puppies for the background or something. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.81.230.186 (talk) 14:28, 9 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
